Services

User Training

We provide training in software, most commonly Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.

We also provide training in Fedora and LibreOffice.

Furthermore, we can also train users in programs we have not used before, although we will take some time to "learn" the program ourselves.

Software Upgrades and Troubleshooting

We do perform software upgrades and troubleshooting.

We typically ask our customers to use the latest available software (assuming no upgrade costs) especially in programs that use untrusted information.

As far as troubleshooting goes, we have yet to encounter an issue (non-hardware) that we could not fix. That said, some fixes are more expensive than others.

Lost Data Retrieval

Data retrieval is a tricky business.

We CANNOT retrieve data after it has been written over. If you DO NEED data retrieval, STOP using the machine that has that data NOW.

We also cannot retrieve data from physically damaged drives. This requires expensive equipment. It is often cheaper to recreate that data than to recover it.

LAN Design and Maintenance

We do set up interoffice LANs. While this is primarily a business-only service, we can also work with home users.

We have set up email, web, and domain servers. We are familiar with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and its community derivative, CentOS.

Building Custom Computers

Many people aren't happy with their current computer.

We can help you build your dream computer.

Speed. Reliability. Cost.

What do you need?

Remote Support

We also help via "remote" support -- we DO NOT recommend this for hardware issues, but we can see if it is software or if a physical visit is necessary.

That said, we prefer on-site visits so we can see how you use your computer

Applications

Phone Spam Blocker (discontinued)

Phone Spam Blocker was discontinued becuase it was found out that spammers can use arbitrary phone numbers (including ones that they do not own).

WorthIt: Lottery!

WorthIt: Lottery! came about during the fifth largest jackpot for the PowerBall, where several people were saying that they were going to buy a ticket. This application is designed to inform the user (you) when it is WorthIt to buy a lottery ticket.

Green means it is WorthIt whereas red means it is not WorthIt. The decimal number underneath the jackpot amount is the expected value per ticket. We also track the last lottery drawing numbers and amount.

For calculating ticket worth, we take the sum of all possible winnings multiplied by their respective odds and then subtract the ticket cost. We assume that the winner will take their winnings as an annuity and that taxes are not paid (we have no clue what taxes are around the U.S., but you can probably assume about 40-50%).
